SPECIAL NEEDS:

Dance Image Studios has sponsored a “Special Abilities Class” for children with special needs for several years. The class is free of charge to all students participating.

Students with special needs enjoy interacting with music and are especially happy when they learn a dance to the music that they hear on the radio regularly. Whether they can accomplish the dance steps perfectly or perfectly for their own condition, we strive to help them feel very accomplished.

The stretching and ballet barre work is good for their muscles and for the mind. The coordination of instructions they receive and being able to try each exercise is good for their concentration, the challenge of the steps, and their ability to accomplish the movement.

The students are taught a dance and perform on the stage each year at the Junior and Senior Recitals. They love the feeling of achieving a specific goal, the excitement of the costume, and especially the applause they receive each year as they perform at the Recitals.

Owner, Janeal Cox is the instructor. The student’s parents provide an aide for their child to assist them, and all enjoy their friendships one with another and the opportunity to dance like the “other kids”. The class has been a wonderful addition to Dance Image Studio.
